How to connect and configure HPE MSA 1040 NAS SAN

I am writing this blog because I didn’t found easy answer to this simple query on entire web search. I found the solution after using my own skills.

The HPE MSA 1040 or 2040 is pre configured with IP address 10.0.0.2 on Controller A (Ethernet Port upper one). You can access it using web browser using https://10.0.0.2 and accept the default certificate. Please keep it in mind that you must assign same subnet IP to your desktop computer or laptop like 10.0.0.10 or any other IP Address of same pool.

There is an other way too. If your network is DHCP enabled then simply plugged in an ethernet cable to upper or lower ethernet port of MSA, this way the MSA will get an IP address. Use a netscan utility to find IP address assigned to MSA. If you have an access to your DHCP Server you can simply check DHCP leases for IP address assigned to HPE MSA. Repeat the same process and write the IP address in your web browser and use HPE pre built Storage Management Utility to configure your HPE MSA. Please be informed that HPE Storage Management Utility is not available to download separately rather it’s pre-installed as default operating system for all latest MSA devices.
